The Fairy Princess and the Kitty Cat

Katelyn was sooo into Halloween this year! She had been asking if it was Halloween for a few weeks. She was super into her costume and was so happy to get to wear it at school that on Friday she jumped out of bed as soon as Mike told her it was Halloween. Katelyn picked out her Fairy/Butterfly princess costume and she was excited to wear it. Katelyn also picked out little sisters costume -- I would have picked the butterfly costume, but I think Katelyn only wanted one little girl with wings. It didn't really matter this year since Alyssa was a little oblivious to the whole thing. She let us put the costume on her and eventually she said "Meow" but overall she wasn't really into the costume thing at school. I can't really blame her since she got four shots the day before. Her 18month immunizations and a flu shot. Katelyn went with us to the appointment and got the nasal flu vaccine. She was quick to tell people that she didn't have to get a shot but Alyssa got four!

Alyssa eventually got into the Halloween spirit when it came time to go trick-or-treating. We went over to my bosses house like we have done every year. His wife likes to see the girls dressed up and it gives us a home base in a nice neighborhood to go trick or treatings. They even fed us pizza and salad before we went out. Alyssa would say trick or treat when we were walking between houses; she would also say meow and thank you in between houses, but as soon as she got to the door she was mute for the most part. She did say doggy a few times when the people had dogs and she said thank you at a few houses and meow at one of the last houses. Overall she did great and she got a bucket of candy for mom and dad to eat -- like we need it. One house we went to had toys which I think is kind of cool, so Alyssa got a top and both girls got whistles (somewhat annoying). But at least she can play with it. She can't really eat the candy yet.

The night before Halloween, Katelyn and Alyssa put pumpkin tatoos on their small pumpkins and then Katelyn helped Mike carve the big pumpkin. It had already started to go bad but luckily not enough to prevent carving fun. Katelyn picked out the design, helped daddy scoop out the guts and apply the design to the pumpkin. It ended up looking really good and Katelyn had a great time. Alyssa was pretty much oblivious to the bat on her pumpkin, but she was aware of the fact that we were playing with her pumpkins, so overall, she was ok with it.
