McCall, Idaho

So people have asked me about the video in the previous blog and I haven't had a chance to explain.  We were up in McCall a little over a month ago.  My friend (and former co-clerk), Beth, invited us up for a weekend at her family's place up there.  So the Hickok's invaded and the expected pandemonium ensued.  Four kids -- as you can guess they played hard (and had some pretty big time melt downs too).  Well one of their favorite indoor activites one morning was playing the piano.  Beth can actually play (as can her spouse) and her husband can edit digital video.  So they took a video of Katelyn and Isaac (their son) playing the piano and another with Beth and Chris playing and dubbed the sound of the adults playing over the kids performance.  I laughed when I saw it and I had to share it with all of you!
The whole family had a great time in McCall!  Mike got to get out his fishing pole and Katelyn's pole too.  Then he had to referee between the girls over who got to cast the line (I suppose we should get another fishing pole).  He and Katelyn went out with Beth's dad and Isaac the last morning we were there to go fishing.  They didn't get anything, but Katelyn still had a great time.
Mike took the girls out on the paddle boat and they really enjoyed that too.  Beth's dad took us out on his ski boat and gave us a tour of the lake.  He also gave the kids (I'm including Mike in that description because he is just one big kid when it comes to all these fun activities) a ride on their tube.  I was really surprised that Alyssa was ok with it, but she really enjoyed herself.  (I took pictures and had a good time too)

We shared cooking duties and kid patrol.  We mixed some drinks, made some smores and ate way too much and overall had a great weekend. -- Thanks Beth!

Great post.

By the way, I think Mike was smart to limit the kids' fishing pole to ONE. More than one and he would have spent all his time just untangling lines... :-)
