Moving time!

I haven't posted anything for well over a month. I can't say that there hasn't been anything to report, just that there hasn't been time to report it!

Mike and I have been looking at houses since about October of last year. We have tried to get a deal using the short sale process. There are tons of homes out there, but the banks really make it impossible for many people to utilize that particular sales method. We were under contract on one for about 4 months before it fell through and another for about 3 months. But, ultimately a house came on the market that meets alot of our needs and desires. Its an older home, but its over twice the size of our current home, has large bedrooms for the girls, a shop for Mike and its closer into town. Hopefully we will close mid-July.

We took Mike to the Zoo for Father's day. The girls had fun. Katelyn fed the giraffe at the Zoo. Alyssa was excited about the idea, but when it came time to actually feed the Giraffe she decided she wasn't ready for it. Katelyn got to feed the giraffe twice - once with her leaves and once with Alyssa's.

Katelyn and Alyssa also got to meet a 15 year old badger. And both girls actually pet the badger. Probably because it was smaller then the giraffe. But the goats were a little too big for Alyssa's liking. She fed the baby goats but when the big ones stuck their heads out to be fed she backed away quickly.

Another update on the girls - Katelyn lost her second bottom front tooth - so now she has three holes in her mouth where teeth used to be! The surprising thing about that is that she hasn't spent the dollar that the tooth fairy brought her yet and that was well over two weeks ago. It was burning a hole in her pocket but she hasn't asked about going to the store in awhile.

Oh and Katelyn broke her little toe a few weeks ago too! She did it at her after school program, we think she tripped on a gym mat, but we can't get much out of her to confirm. She complained that her toe hurt and I didn'r really pay much attention until the next day when I looked down and saw that it was red, swollen to about twice its regular size and there was a bruise about an inch up her foot - needless to say I took her to the doctor. The doctor couldn't do anything for her, but she needed to see if she thought Katelyn had broken anything in her foot, which would then require x-rays. No damage to the foot other then the bruising, so no x-rays. Katelyn is just forbidden to wear sandles for most of the summer, closed toed shoes only since we don't want her to catch the little toe and do any further damage.

I used my Mother's Day present - a friend and I went to the Carrie Underwood concert. It was a great show, but you know you are old when it hits ten and you are looking at your watch and yawning because you are tired!

The most time intensive activity for the last month has been swim lessons. Four days a week, after work. The girls have been getting to bed super late and the whole family is exhausted but Alyssa has improved so much over the last four weeks that it is worth it. I included a video of both of them diving. I took the video last week and while this doesn't show Alyssa making much forward progress while she is under water, she has gotten even better - which is a good thing since the house we are buying has an above ground pool for the girls!
