Busy, Busy

A few weeks ago I took Friday off and helped chaperone Katelyn's class field trip to the Zoo and the Discovery Center. Katelyn had a great time at the Discovery Center! I think perhaps we will have to invest in a season pass. Katelyn really enjoyed this exhibit:

Its hard to decide which exhibit was my favorite, but I think it was probably the bubble screen. It was a cold day, so getting to hang out in doors at the Discovery Center was nice. And even going around the Zoo in the cold was fun. Then after school Alyssa's daycare had their Hoe Down fundraiser. The girls, grandma and I got dressed up and we met Mike at the party.

I ended up winning a couple silent auction items. I got outbid on the McCall cabin and a few others but one of the items I won is pretty cool, its a birthday party at the Young Chef's Academy. I'm not sure if we will use it for Katelyn's 6th birthday in July or keep it until next April for Alyssa's 4th.

Then this last weekend Katelyn and I ran the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure. I signed us up for the 5K and I knew it was going to be a little difficult to get Katelyn to the finish line. Three miles is quite alot for her to handle. While she started whining at about the half way mark and kept it up until the end, it was still nice to do it with her. I think she had fun too but I'm not sure if she will be willing to try it again next year.

After we finished the race, Katelyn still had to go play soccer. She was pretty tired by the end of the day on Saturday.

The girls and Mike pampered me yesterday for Mother's Day. They let me sleep in. Then the girls both gave me handmade necklaces. Alyssa gave me a painted pasta necklace and Katelyn made me a beaded necklace. They both made me cards and Mike gave me two tickets to go see Carrie Underwood in a few weeks with the statement "you can take anyone you want - not me!" They also let me pick how we spent the day, so we drove around town looking at houses in the Parade of Homes. There are some beautiful homes out there, but the ones I really loved were a little too expensive for us. Oh well - it was still fun to dream! Mike made breakfast and we went out to dinner so no cooking for me yesterday either. Anyway, I had a great day and I hope everyone else enjoyed their Mother's day and was able to spend it with family and friends.
