Both girls are playing soccer again this spring. I said I wasn't going to enroll Alyssa after last fall when I couldn't detach her from my leg, but she said she wanted to do it and I just couldn't say no since her sister would be playing. And surprisingly, she has done a great job. She gets out there and goes through the stations and participates in the games (for the most part - there are still the occasional melt downs when things don't go her way or if she collides with another player, but she is still only three -- for a few days -- so overall, she is doing great)
Katelyn's soccer team is doing a great job as well. She has some really good coaches and the team really works well together. They had a close game a few weekends ago, but they pulled it out at the end. Typically, they tend to dominate out on the field, last weekend's game they only let the other team score two goals. And Katelyn's team is one of the only ones where the coaches make the girls play two offense and two defense, so there aren't four of them swarming around the ball. Katelyn isn't the strongest player they have, but she does a really good job and she continues to improve. Its just really fun watching her.
We had Alyssa's birthday party this weekend. Its a few days early, but when I started calling around for the weekend of the 23rd, alot of places were closed because of Easter and the few that were open were booked. So, we went with the weekend before her birthday. We had it at Gem State Gymnastics -- which is where she takes gymnastics classes -- and I think all the kids had a good time. One of my friends from work made Alyssa's birthday cake (I am super lucky to have such a talented and kind friend!). She is the one who made my beautiful wedding cake so I knew it would be gorgeous. She told me she wanted to do something simple, but let me tell you that her idea of simple and mine are two different things because I would not say this was simple:
Alyssa was soooo happy with her cake and all the attention. She was a little upset when I told her she wasn't four yet, but she got over it rather quickly (probably because I told her she gets more presents on her birthday!)
The girls also got new dresses from Grandma and Grandpa Lich for Easter. I let them open and wear them a little early, as you can see they were a big hit:
I'm not ready for Easter yet, but at least I have a week to get there. I guess thats all for now. I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend.
