So we have had a heck of a week. We went to Sumpter Oregon for the 4th and hung out with Mike's Dad and Kris. Katelyn got to try out fireworks for the first time. She really enjoyed her sparklers. And she got to see some deer wondering around near Grandpa's house. Overall, we had a pretty good time and Alyssa did great until Sunday morning when she threw up all over their bed (oops). Then she seemed ok the rest of the morning and we headed for home. We stopped in Ontario for a quick bite at Arbys and gave Alyssa a spoonful of baby food and a few fries then she vomitted everywhere. Once we got her cleaned up we got home and Alyssa continued to vomit. She has been home from daycare all week. She hasn't vomitted in almost 48 hours now, but she now has diarehea. And of course, Alyssa shared her little virus with me, so I have been out of work all week (the first day with Alyssa, then after that because I couldn't get out of bed). Mike's mom has been here helping out all week.
When we got home from Sumpter, not only did we have to deal with Alyssa, but we had to deal with the mess Kita left. We left Kita home for the weekend and although we knew that fireworks freeked her out, we didn't realize how bad. We had my cousin come in and let her in at night and we closed all the doors to the rooms "so she couldn't do too much damage" to the place. So Jen let Kita in the house on the 4th and when she came back to let her out on the 5th discovered that she had destroyed the molding of the door frame going into our bedroom, all the way up to the door knob. She obviously wanted into our room! So rather then letting Kita destroy our house, she left her out on the 5th. On the 6th she came over to check on Kita and somehow our dumb dog managed to break the outer pane of glass on the stationary side of our sliding glass door and ruined our screen door. So, while we thought we got away with a fairly inexpensive 4th of July mini-vacation, it turned into a couple expensive home improvement projects -- Mike's so thrilled! :)
We thought we lost Alyssa's contact, it was out of her eye for two days. But, luckily, Mike found it the other night on the living room floor. So at least we won't have to pay for a new one. Mike and I were contemplating buying new couches (Costco has a couple leather, reclining couches going on sale), but now I think we will be paying for our home improvement projects. Oh-well, we will just stick with our second hand/hand me down furniture for a little while longer. At least I don't care if stuff gets spilled on it.
Thats it for now, hope no one else has the flu out there.
