Goose Eggs and Fingernails

So Katelyn's fingernail finally came off yesterday. It looked nasty and it smelled horrible, so I'm glad its finally gone. But Katelyn is insistent that she still needs a bandaid (princesses of course). We have tried to talk her into letting her finger air out for a little while, but I think it just feels so different not having a fingernail that she insists it hurts and cries the entire time we make her go without a bandaid. Of course, as soon as we put the bandaid on she insists its too tight and cries about that -- we just can't win. Hopefully she gets used to the feeling soon and we can stop putting bandaids on her finger all together.

Katelyn jumped out of bed this morning (a rare thing, she really doesn't like to be awakened in the mornings!) but Daddy got her up by telling her she could come pinch Mommy since Mommy wasn't wearing green and it was St. Patrick's Day. It was true, I wasn't wearing any green, so I quickly put on some green earings so the pinching would stop.

Alyssa has a nice goose egg on her head. Its nice and red right now, but I think I can see the bruise colors underneath the red already. She fell yesterday when she was upset and trying to run to me. She landed face first on the concrete. I can still hear that sound her head made when it made contact with the very hard ground -- I hate that sound! I thought for sure she hit her nose and it would be broken or something. But somehow she managed to just really smash her forehead. Poor thing. She didn't cry nearly as long as I thought she would and she was in a pretty good mood most of the night. (although very clingy for Mommy lately -- probably because I've been gone so much).

I hope everyone had a happy St. Patricks Day.

[cringing] Ouch. Yeah, that sound is the worst. Glad Alyssa is doing OK.

I remember losing a fingernail as a kid and I do remember that it just sort of ached all the time. I think we take for granted the protection those nails provide our fingertips. Good luck to you all. (I can't ever get the band-aids right, either.)
