So Alyssa turned three this last week. She stuck with her decision to have rainbow cupcakes at school and we had a few left at home too - so here you see her enjoying a red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple cupcake (with pink sprinkles and marshmellows on top but of course the marshmellows were the first thing to be inhaled). She had a good birthday. It was in the middle of the week and on Katelyn's gymnastics night so we did a quick birthday celebration on her birthday, let her open a few of her presents and eat a cupcake and then on Saturday we had a BBQ with friends over and an actual birthday cake. Mike was thrilled to learn he was the lucky individual who got to decorate the cake (I know its hard to convey sarcasm in writing - but its there, trust me!)

Mike did a wonderful job and Dora actually turned out looking like Dora:

As you can see, Alyssa was thrilled. She loved her cake!

Saturday was full of other big events as well. Katelyn participated in a school district wide fun run. She had to run/walk a mile (along with between 1500 and 1600 other people) and at the end she received a medal. I got to do it with her, but I didn't receive a medal :( The medal isn't one of those flimsy plastic ones either, as Katelyn put it, its a "real" medal. I don't know what kind of metal it is made of, but it is heavy duty and Katelyn was thrilled to get it. She was also pretty proud of herself for running almost the whole mile. We will see how she does at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in a week and a half - thats a 5K. I know we won't be running the whole thing, but I'm wondering if she will finish without whining - keep your fingers crossed!
After we got home, Katelyn had to jet off to her soccer game. She didn't score a goal but that is an improvement over last week when she scored a goal against her own team :) It was right after half time when the teams change sides and she got a little confused -- oops! Anyway, after soccer, she came home and pulled out her tooth. Its about time too - that thing has been loose and she has done nothing but play with it for a month!

She was excited about the fact that the tooth fairy would be visiting. And the tooth fairy didn't let her down -- she (or he - we debated about the gender of the tooth fairy for quite some time with no resolution) brought a dollar for Katelyn's tooth. I'm wondering what the tooth fairy is doing with these teeth???? Seriously, does she or he keep them, throw them away??? Any thoughts?
Now her other bottom front tooth is loose, so I'm thinking I'm going to have a five year old with some big gaping holes in her mouth soon!
And this picture of the girls was just too sweet not to post - we took this on Easter weekend. We got back from freezing our behinds off out at an Easter egg hunt and found a package waiting from Grandma and Grandpa Lich -- the girls couldn't wait to try on their new Hawaiin dresses. I think they are hugging each other in an attempt to warm up - but its still cute!
