Speech Therapy

We took Alyssa to a speech therapist today. I know -- why would a 14 month old baby need speech therapy? It doesn't actually have anything to do with her speech, it has to do with her eating. She has limited her diet to macaroni & cheese, green beans, bananas, a few crackers and whatever baby food we can get into her. When I told her pediatrician that she hasn't really embraced eating, she referred us to a speech therapist who specializes in eating issues. It took them a month to get us in, but we are now "in therapy!" The diagnosed Alyssa with Oral disfunction associated with the jaw. What that boils down to is that all the muscles in her mouth are fine, her range of motion with her tongue is within the normal range and the only problem they found is that she doesn't chew. I guess a normal response when she puts her finger in a kids mouth on the side gum area where the molars would be would be for the kid to bite down on her finger -- Alyssa doesn't do that. She just doesn't chew. I didn't mind the fact that Alyssa doesn't put a ton of stuff in her mouth and chew on it, but for eating purposes, I guess we need to change that. Our first assignment is to encourage her to chew on her toys.

Our subdivision yard sale is scheduled for tomorrow. Mike has decided to participate. He has been scrounging around the house for the last two weeks trying to find his "inventory". Don't get me wrong, we have alot of crap to get rid of, but I'm afraid I haven't helped much, so he is on his own and I keep shooting down some of his suggestions of what we can get rid of in the house. I think he has found enough stuff to have a successful sale.
After he is done with his yard sale, we have to figure out what we are wearing for the 80's party we are going to tomorrow night. I need to see if I have any blue eye shadow and I probably need to go buy some Aquanet superhold to get the 80's hair. For Mike we need to find a pink shirt, white sport coat and wicker shoes but I don't think we will be able to find that, so I'm not sure what we are going to put him in (we don't have enough time for him to grow out his hair for a mullet!)
Katelyn is doing ok. She had a messy/poopy accident at school on Thursday. They went to a park and there were no bathrooms and rather then tell her teacher she needed to go to the bathroom she went in her pants. I don't understand what the problem is with getting that girl potty trained. Hopefully Alyssa won't be so difficult, but we will see. Katelyn got to make ice cream at school today and is always full of some new adventure or art project or story about school -- we are really happy with KASP.
