Katelyn painting at school...We signed Katelyn up for swim lessons. The first few days were NOT a success, but today she put her head in the water and listened to her teacher. (it could be that grandma bribed her with a shaved ice if she cooperated -- but whatever the reason, I'll take it!) She went four times this week, she will go four times next week and then she will go twice a week for the rest of the summer. Grandma is taking her since the lessens are around 2:00 in the afternoon when we are at work. I wish KASP offered swim lessons, its really one of the only draw backs compared to Katelyn's old school. Don't get me wrong, we love her new school, her new teachers, the fact that Katelyn and Alyssa are in the same school, etc, but I miss the offered swim classes. Did I mention that Katelyn is starting to sound out letters in words. So if we say the word dog, she will make the "d" sound and then say, "D starts the word dog". Its fun, we play that game on the way to school in the mornings. Sometimes we look at street signs and she tells us what the letters are and then she starts to sound them out. Ultimately we tell her the name of the street, but she is getting pretty good at getting the first sounds. She recognizes almost all of her capital letters and is starting on the lower case letters. She never ceases to amaze me!
Alyssa has officially started walking. She can make it across the room without falling (although it doesn't happen without falling very often -- she looks like an intoxicated monkey). She loves to walk and gets ticked off when you pick her up most of the time now. She would prefer to have you hold her hand and walk with you, but she can do it on her own and does quite frequently. She is also starting to chew a little more. I'm not sure if she would have done that anyway or if its because we have been encouraging her to bite on stuff, whatever the reason, its a good thing. Our first therapy session is on Monday, hopefully we won't need to go that long.
Well I should probably get a little work done and get to bed -- its almost 10:00pm, I'm not sure where the time goes, never enough hours in the day.
